silk shirts and playthroughs
Apr. 29th, 2012 02:18 amFeeling better today.
Unexpected stroke of luck while I was out shopping, doing the grocery run and a few other things. While passing a vintage wear shop, I saw a sign saying that they were having a big sale out of a nightclub down the road (which took a bit of searching, but then I admit I don't know much about local nightclubs) at fifteen pounds for a kilo of vintage clothing. I checked it out, and ended up buying a kilo of men's silk shirts (about a dozen of them). They're short-sleeved casual seventies/eighties stuff in muted and mixed shades, rather confused, but they will look very nice when I have cut them up for patchwork. Hah. (gloats)
Other amusements of the day included beating Devil Survivor 2 for the second time. This time I managed to get the "best" ending, which not only resets the clock to before the disaster, but also suggests the characters are moving forward in constructive ways (a bit like the end of Utena). Yamato's high-Fate dialogue is hilarious: "I see... so you yearn for me, just as I yearn for you," will launch a thousand ships. So now I'm starting on a third play-through, to try to collect some of the demons and skills that I haven't got yet. One of the nice features of this is that I get to carry over high-powered skills and demons from the previous game, which means I get to make mincemeat of a lot of the earlier encounters. Squishy mincemeat. High-xp mincemeat.

Date: 2012-04-29 01:37 am (UTC)(er, ahem)
I'm going to have to back the silk on something more solid, but it should make nice cushion-covers or even a whole quilt. I just need to dissect the shirts first.
