poor dentists, nobody wants to see them

Grey and cool today. Probably better for athletes than blazing heatstroke, but still a little less than one might have liked to see. (I'm not asking for it to be that hot, but sunny-and-cool would be nice.)

Dentist checkup tomorrow: fingers crossed that nothing is required.

Crossing fingers!

I actually kinda like dental cleanings. Not the poking-at-teeth-and-gums part, but the buzzy-brush part. It's like a tooth massage!

Heh. Alas for me, this is just a checkup session, not the hygienist-with-brushes. I hope that I have flossed and brushed well enough...

Oh, the "hygienist session" and the actual "dentist checkup" are two separate sessions. Usually I get things arranged so that I can have one appointment directly following the other (I think they prefer it that way, too) but today the hygienist was on holiday. So just dentist checkup. (And I am delighted to say that my teeth are in good condition and don't need attention, touch wood. He even put a gold star on my chart. :))

It may just be how things work over here. While I've only belonged to two dental practices, in both cases the hygienist and the actual dentist were different people.

Oh, yes, they are over here as well -- but the hygienist does the check-up mostly prior to the cleaning, does the cleaning, then calls the dentist in to briefly look over any x-rays, poke a pokey-thing in to make sure the cleaning was done well, palpate the soft tissues for lumps, give any bad news about cavities, and go off again.

Right. The hygienist does do some checking-up too, and I usually see her before the dentist, but I think the dentist does a more complete check.

I have done the dentist thing today. It...did not end well. (Helloooo extraction #7...) :(
