incandescens | c'est la vie

It was probably unreasonable of me to hope that the monthly checkpoint meeting today would be less than two hours: on the other hand, at least there were no serious problems or catastrophes to discuss (touch wood) and I didn't get too many additional work packages. C'est la vie.

And tomorrow c'est la vendredi (that is, it's Friday). And then c'est le three-day-weekend, since we have a bank holiday on Monday. Yes.

(And also, yes, I am having a bit of a Denise Levertov binge, since I found a website with some of her poems on it. No doubt I will get back to other authors soon.)

Aware

When I found the door
I found the vine leaves
speaking among themselves in abundant
whispers.
My presence made them
hush their green breath,
embarrassed, the way
humans stand up, buttoning their jackets,
acting as if they were leaving anyway, as if
the conversation had ended
just before you arrived.
I liked
the glimpse I had, though,
of their obscure
gestures. I liked the sound
of such private voices. Next time
I'll move like cautious sunlight, open
the door by fractions, eavesdrop
peacefully.
