sensual things
Dec. 6th, 2012 01:05 amToday at work there were cakes being sold for charity. Naturally I felt it was my duty to support charity. (Mmm, gingerbread flavour cupcake with salted caramel icing.)
I've had another sale on my etsy shop! A cushion cover. Must try and send it out tomorrow, in the interests of professionalism and fast response and so on. I feel so smug.
I'm actually currently sewing a blue patchwork flannel quilt for the recently born son of a coworker. (We found out today that he's being named Ezra. Very Biblical, for want of a better comment.) I must say that the quilt is coming out beautifully squishy and thick and soft, even if the extra weight did make it a bit annoying to sew at some points. Must remember this for future reference, as I think I have some brushed cotton in more adult shades elsewhere.
---
"You must come with us, Mister Lyle."
"Why?"
"The Palace wants to see you."
Lyle looked surprised, then pained, then downright upset. "I'm a little busy. I've got an experiment all set up downstairs, and if I don't do it soon the tubes will be completely useless . . ."
"Sir," repeated the man in a tone of disbelief, "the Palace wants you."
He hesitated. "Uh, well . . ."
"Sir." The word took on a pained quality, suggesting that here was a man who, though about to break Lyle's legs, was at least polite enough to recommend a good doctor afterwards.

Date: 2012-12-06 01:17 am (UTC)2: Those are some awesomely nifty earrings you're doing there. I'm getting urges to dredge out what I've got and see if I can make Something Cool...

Date: 2012-12-06 09:34 am (UTC)2) I'm sure you could! As you can see, they're generally just fairly straightforward dangly earrings, with the bead on a headpin, a loop turned with round-nosed pliers, and jump rings to link them together. Straightforward!
3) Unfortunately they don't do flannel or brushed cotton with the sort of prints that were on the one I did for you, or the one you got for your mother...
