still quoting Blackadder
Feb. 10th, 2013 02:34 amHope that everyone in snow-hit areas is warm and dry and still has their power!
The horse/beef scandal continues. It is pure coincidence that most of the meat that I bought while out shopping today was chicken or lamb. Hey, I did get a couple of lumps of fillet steak.
I had one of those "astonishing coincidence" moments earlier today. I was doing some knitting, and flicking through the tv channels to find something that I could live with as background noise/interest for ten minutes or so while I finished the current ball of wool and started a new one. I ended up watching some figure skating. They were just about to have a new competitor come out on the ice. To my utter surprise, I recognised the music he was skating to. It was a selection from the Notre-Dame de Paris musical. He didn't win, which would have made the coincidence even more entertaining, but it was still a nice thing to have come across.

General Melchett: If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Date: 2013-02-11 07:02 pm (UTC)And *YES* Blackadder! I'll take that Melchie quote and raise you one: "As private parts to the gods are we: they play with us for their sport!" (Hee!) Last Christmas I bought Mr. hg the entire Blackadder collection on DVD (this Christmas it was Fawlty Towers. He has a decided thing for grumpy British comedic antiheroes...)
