I like quiet holidays

Another quiet day. Worked on edits on book two: did some sewing: did some shopping: did some knitting: watched some television and admired the contestants on Masterchef (South Africa) while being grateful that my supper just consisted of shoving a few things in the oven.

Tomorrow: more of the same.

I was just reminded of my trip to Amsterdam last year, about this time or slightly later. I bought some tulip bulbs for my parents at the time, though to be honest we were getting past the tulip season at that point. My mother dropped me an email today to say that she had potted the bulbs and hoped, and that the first one has just flowered, and the rest are coming up nicely. Fantastic.

Flowers are always nice. :) We planted a couple of things last fall (some flowers, a couple small trees) and we're hoping they all survived ChiBeria. :/ Time will tell...!

How very cool to have living reminders of a place you've been, even if the reminders are half the country away.

In the photo that my mother's sent, the one that's open is a red tulip - the others, visible in the background, haven't opened yet, but I am hoping that the colours are entertaining.

It was a lovely living reminder, as you say, of something I did a year ago.

(I couldn't really have grown them in my flat... well, I suppose I could have managed pots for them if I'd really wanted to, but there's already so much stuff in it.)

Gardening is best left to people with gardens, I figure. Inside space is for inside projects. Or books, as the case may be.

Some of the flats in this block do have small balconies, and put potted plants out on them. I don't have such a balcony, though. (Which spares me the choice.)
