Would that there was a tv channel for "BBC News without world cup updates". I like the BBC news in general, or at least I find it reasonably informative: I could do without the world cup updates.

I can only imagine what the BBC coverage is like. We only get it in the evening and I can skip it if I don't want to know the results before watching the games off my DVR...

Every single half-hour news report is punctuated by the latest from Brazil. And that's not even going into the sports specials. Sigh.

It may get slightly better once England (inevitably) crashes out of the competition.

On NPR they were interviewing an English football commentator and he was of the same opinion as you, the funny thing was that he was really into the US team whereas the US commentator was completely flabbergasted that he even thought that the US could contend. It was very interesting to listen to.

But yes, that would probably do it...

I don't think anyone seriously expects the English team to get very far. Maybe a couple of places above rock bottom. Higher than that would be wishful thinking.

(Mind you, the tabloid papers love wishful thinking. It makes good headlines.)

The US team did win their first match today, I think? They beat Ghana. So that's a step forward!

It is! Especially since Ghana eliminated them four years ago. *grins* I saw the final header of a goal and it was amazing.
