until I do some more
Apr. 18th, 2008 02:32 amBoth meetings went nicely. The first went at a rate of knots, due to most of the items being straightforward and everyone having done their research beforehand. The second was better than I'd hoped: we were discussing the code of practice for one of the sub-teams, and everyone came to the meeting with a conciliatory attitude (there had been some slightly vigorous discussion a few days ago about cross-checking) and a willingness to be helpful and meet at a middle point.
The fact that the room didn't have any heating and we all wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP possibly didn't hurt, either.
But anyhow. Both meetings down and good results obtained, plus normal work going well.
Also -- I didn't mention this in yesterday's entry, but I took a couple of bits of knitting I'd done (a very basic baby blanket and baby hat, neonate size) to the local neonatal unit. (My mother had suggested I do some knitting for local neonatal stuff. While I am feeling a little badgered/guilted into it, which I am trying to get over, I admit that smaller stuff knits up faster.) The nurses there were very glad to get the items and very complimentary about them. (I admit I picked brightly coloured variegated yarns. Photos will go up at some point. But they all said how much of a nice difference it made from plain white.)
So that's done. Until I do some more.

"Let me tell you something about people, Hallow. If you give people work that makes them feel strong and useful, then they will become strong and useful. Their strength, through you, is power, and astounding things can be done with that power. Impossible things.
"Keep the same people in fear, and you may still get use from them, but never strength. If they find strength despite you, the first thing they will do with it is bring you down. No matter what it costs. Understand that very well, Hallow: any being with a real soul will prize it above anything -- certainly above life."
