Olympics approaching
Aug. 4th, 2016 02:04 amMost of the tickets for the work Olympics sweepstake have now been sold, though a few remain - including Canada, Australia, and Great Britain. I'm quite pleased that there are still a few decent tickets in the bag, as I'd like to get them all sold before Friday evening, and it gets exponentially harder to talk coworkers into buying tickets - however cheap they are - if all the potential "top three in the final scoring table" countries have been claimed.
(No, I don't seriously expect Great Britain to be up there in the top three, but it's one of those countries which people would be pleased to draw. As opposed to "where is this place, I've never heard of it before, is it somewhere in the Pacific, can you look it up on wikipedia for me" countries.)
(No, geography has never been one of my best subjects.)
For the record, China, USA, and Russia (though heaven only knows how many Russian athletes are going to be competing) have all been drawn already. The USA ticket got drawn by that team member whom I'veranted about commented on in the past as being indecently lucky. This surprised nobody.

“And her?” This time Jin Zhi’s gesture was clearly at Irene.
“She can say nothing. Besides, I’d rather have her under my eye for the moment than in another room, even if she should be guarded. The woman is slippery.”
Irene decided to rate that as a compliment. It improved her mood slightly.
