it's going around
Aug. 10th, 2004 10:10 pmSince several people on my friends list have this up . . .
What anime/manga character do I most remind you of, and why? If you can't choose just one, feel free to put two or three. Then, post this in your journal and see what people say about you!

Date: 2004-08-11 02:53 am (UTC)No, it is the sense of the polished, of the traditional, and the sense of wisdom that Oriya always seem to leave. Though I swear Oriya is a pop-culture nut in denial, but let's not go there, 'cos I can be highly delusional ^^;;;

Date: 2004-08-11 11:05 am (UTC)For you I choose Nico Robin of One Piece fame: one of the few sensible female characters in pop shounen manga, well-read and articulate, and with a clear eye on where she's going in life (at least for the short term!).

Date: 2004-08-11 01:28 pm (UTC)(PS -- do you suppose the author of One Piece was/is a fan of the Avengers tv series?)

Date: 2004-08-11 01:35 pm (UTC)I would perhaps give Oda credit for being aware of the Avengers, except that he admits that he has to go through fashion catalogues to know what clothing girls might possibly wear, as he otherwise has no idea (though Miss Doublefinger's choice of outfits does make me wonder ^^). Which makes me wish he'd do the same for his male characters, so that Sanji would never have to wear plaid pants again.

Date: 2004-08-11 09:35 pm (UTC)...well, okay, maybe it does leave a thing or two to be desired. :)

Date: 2004-08-12 01:33 am (UTC)I love Sanji in a shirt and tie, and best in his suit; I am a sucker for a guy in a double-breasted suit, especially when he looks good in it. Some of the one-shot art has him in horrible, horrible clothing, and I will never get over that nasty Hawaii-shirt-capri-pants thing he did throughout Sky Pier. He's supposed to be stylish. It says so in his bio in Red. What's up with that, I ask you? ^^

Date: 2004-08-11 07:28 pm (UTC)(Besides, from a book I have deconstructing James Bond, I understand that being the Villain's Female Minion Who Changes Her Ways Or Was Never Working For Him Anyhow has major benefits in terms of props, costumes, and cash . . .)
