mighty videoconferencer
Aug. 11th, 2004 01:47 amA very good day at work today. We had a videoconference -- that is, me at Winchester, the others at Birmingham -- and I know this displays my lack of modern technological experience, but I felt most gratifyingly high-tech James Bond coolness while doing it. (Little things please little minds, I know, I know.) I will probably be bored of it soon enough if I have to do them regularly.
Dentist tomorrow. Gah. Hopefully just a quick stopgap filling and a proper appointment later. Still, gah. Not that I hate it, but show me anyone who actually likes going to the dentist.
The weather was slightly cooler today. May it get more so. And may we have more rain.
Interesting, the anime character meme, in what it says about what people are prepared to say about the way they see us.

Conceit
I heard a winter tree in song
Its leaves were birds, a hundred strong;
When all at once it ceased to sing,
For every leaf had taken wing.

Date: 2004-08-11 02:01 am (UTC)Is why I gave up going. Never had a cavity, lucky me. But I got sick of the dentist telling me that I wasn't flossing enough, when I floss daily (I have gappy teeth and stuff gets caught, ergo I floss), and then proceeding to saw into my gums and make me bleed, upon which I am triumphantly informed that if I were truly flossing enough, I wouldn't bleed. Well, mister know-it-all dentist man, I bleed daily when I floss, too. Harrumph. (TMI, I know).
Videoconferencing is extremely cool. We use iChat here at work and with the groovy iSight cameras and a good internet connection, we happily keep in touch when folks are travelling (and it's also how we got to see the boss' new baby when he got her home from hospital!).

I'm mooting using Windows Messenger, and have sent an email to IT Services to ask if we can download it. One can hope . . .
