Nov. 10th, 2004 11:52 pmWell, that's a day back at work survived. The sweets I acquired in New Hampshire went down very well (and very fast) but fortunately a few were left for the people who will be in tomorrow. Did not fall asleep over desk. Everyone was pleasantly glad to see me, which is always nice.
Sidenotes from earlier. I was due to fly from Boston to Washington Dulles, then (after about an hour and a half's pause) from Washington to Heathrow. As it was, the plane was about an hour and a quarter left taking off from Boston, due to problems at both ends, and made it into Washington with twenty minutes to spare. I just made it to the Heathrow plane in time. (And my luggage too, thank goodness.) Brisk cardiovascular exercise is all well and good, but I really wouldn't have minded sitting around for an hour or so and getting a decent meal, rather than aircraft food. Oh well. I will stick with my paranoia and keep on making sure any transfers I may make have plenty of spare time in case of near-disasters like that.
Work is much as it was before, right up to the unresolved forthcoming move and suchlike. I'd almost forgotten what the bitter speculations were like.
Still, I have my iPod. Did I mention that I have an iPod? I have an iPod! (Thank you very, very, very much, Beth and Walter.) I'm currently loading it with music. The earphones are a little strange -- I'm not used to having phones that much inside my ear, even if I've got the volume sensibly low -- but the iPod as a whole . . . mmmmmmmm. Especially when put on random shuffle over lunch. Am not playing it while actually at my desk at work, since we do need to be able to use the phone. Am, however, gloating.
Slight tickle in throat and nose. Time to start dosing myself with anything relevant.
The downstairs bathroom had its decoration finished while I was away. It looks very nice indeed, in the shades of grey and white that my father and I chose. The new shower is also very good -- stronger than the old one, and taking less time to heat up. So. Overall excellent.

what they make me do
