Actually quite a fruitful day at work. Finished off with everyone pitching in to stick address labels on envelopes -- it's nearly time to send out the Data Quarterly Review (with associated Coding Clinic insert) and there are many, many places for it to be sent to.

The weather has got cold and is staying cold. The sky is a pretty clear blue-grey which does nothing to raise the temperature.
Picked up a secondhand book about Herge and his Tintin cartoons today. Very interesting, especially as it showed prints of the cartoons in their original format, and how they were later altered when they were put into coloured collections -- both in terms of changes of dialogue (to tighten the story, or to remove pieces to which readers might have taken offence) and in terms of changes of costume or art where Herge felt he could be more accurate or do it better. Fascinating. A good pickup.

Lucasta Replies To Lovelace
Tell me not, friend, you are unkind,
If ink and books laid by,
You turn up in a uniform
Looking all smart and spry.
I thought your ink one horrid smudge,
Your books one pile of trash,
And with less fear of smear embrace
A sword, a belt, a sash.
Yet this inconstancy forgive,
Though gold lace I adore,
I could not love the lace so much
Loved I not Lovelace more.
