incandescensFairly interesting but quite tiring day at work.
Father back from Guernsey; all there in good health and fine fettle. Aunty Lis has sent several wooden kitchen utensils towards the Moving Stack -- that is, the pile of household goods slowly assembling in the corner of my bedroom and oozing across the floor in a pullulating kind of way.
Birmingham tomorrow for conference/meeting/thingy about new Data Dictionary for NHS. Sounds moderately interesting -- perhaps not directly correlating with our work, but dependent on it to a degree, so worth checking out.
I've just remembered (well, remembered halfway through the afternoon) that there's a quite decent fantasy / science fiction bookshop about 5 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street railway station. Given I'm currently looking for books by an American author (that is, Kage Baker) and I seem to recall that the place stocks imports . . . yes, indeed, virtue is its own reward.
It almost makes up for having to get up at 6am to catch the blasted train. Ah well.
