[livejournal.com profile] archangelbeth and I have decided that we shall become Sith Lords and rule the universe together. She shall be Darth Edatrix and I shall be Darth Autora.

(Sith Lords don't have to worry about people correcting their Latin.)

([livejournal.com profile] archangelbeth is prepared to consider being a Sith Queen rather than a Sith Lord. We both agree that Sith Lady lacks a certain something in the implicatory department. I blame the English language.)

We will both have lightsabers and dark hooded cloaks.

Apparently there is something for me to collect at the post office. I am trying not to get my hopes up too high.

Two coworkers now off ill. Bother it. Planned QA meeting had to be cancelled due to lack of coworkers for quorum, which proves that every cloud has a silver lining.

Frustration

If I had a shiny gun,
I could have a world of fun
Speeding bullets through the brains
Of the folk who give me pains;

Or had I some poison gas,
I could make the moments pass
Bumping off a number of
People whom I do not love.

But I have no lethal weapon -
Thus does Fate our pleasure step on!
So they still are quick and well
Who should be, by rights, in hell.

Though I suppose it's an elevation above the station of Lady, Sith Imperatrice? It has a nice ring to it.

I'm not sure, but I think a female Sith is known as a Sith Witch rather than a Sith Lord, but I could be wrong. A quick cruise through Wookiepedia didn't turn up any information about that specifically.

I must admit, having never been there, I had a good old lol at "wookiepedia". Thanks :D

Probably simpler to just use Sith Lord. After all, saves the trouble of a new term for each gender and totally avoids the implicit "one's gentry, the other's not"...

*puts on the nerd glasses, and prepares his papers for an infodump.*

Star Wars has two major languages, spoken or understood by almost everyone in the galaxy. They are understandably known as Galactic Standard and Galactic Basic. Standard is the older language, more formal and exact while Basic is easier to use in a day to day context. There are even more formal dialects of Standard, collectively referred to as High Galactic Standard, which is used as a religious language. Both languages are tremendously ancient and stable, and even speech from the very dawn of the Republic is understandable to the 'modern' ear. Given the only few examples of high Galactic Standard we have, your faux-Latin fits pretty well.

Still, this is by no means comprehensive. For more detail than you probably desire on the phenomenon of Polylinguistic culture in the Galaxy Far Far Away, read On Polylingualism (http://www.domuspublica.net/on_polylingualism.html) by a far more exhaustive student of the subject than I.

Congratulations on your important life decision. This is the first step. You will receive in the mail our brochure for how to build your own lightsabers and evil Empire with the Dark Side of the Force from home.

Remember: the cloak will cut out your peripheral vision and hearing, and avoid giant pits.

My sith name is Darth Menstrua.

Sith lady makes me think of drinking tea while wearing a large hat or perhaps organizing evil fund raisers and campaigning against Jedi. =D

Sith Queen works nicely! But there is the implication, again, that there is a King somewhere. Darn the English language for inherently reducing the power of women.

Congratulations on embracing the side of Life and dynamic energy. I've got a set of Palpatine's books 'The Book of Anger', 'The weakness of Inferiors' and 'The Creation of Monsters.' I highly encourage you to read all of them, although they are somewhat dense and difficult to study.
