Spending a while before supper making earrings is leaving me not good for much else in the evening, but it is getting earrings done. Cheap ones, for the upcoming rabbit-sanctuary fete. Also need to do some keyrings and some phone charms. I wish I actually liked keyrings and phone charms: I'd probably make better ones if I did.

Almost at the end of the week. Very much looking forward to it. Everyone at work seems to be tired: we suspect it's due to the clocks going forward and us all losing an hour in the morning. Well, that and lots of work.

Happened to catch the Next Avengers movie on television while putting something on as background distraction to earring-making. Entertaining enough, but notable for severe lack of female characters and mother figures. (Brief explanatory note: characters are the children of the "Avengers" group of superheroes from Marvel Comics. Naturally they idolised their departed fathers. Mothers? Oh, presumably mothers were involved somewhere in the process, one supposes. Even if they did give the single female protagonist a decent role and character arc, that did not make up for the absence of any others.)

Oh well.

Snow in the Neath?

The Neath's annual snowfall has been studied. The learned men of the Department of Chiropterochronometry have attempted to incorporate it into their theories of bat rotation. The microscope that was used still exists. It can be seen in the Museum of Mistakes to this very day. The brass is horribly corroded, but the lenses are essentially intact.

What's the procedure for keychains/phone charms? Am curious!

Well, basically, this is what the keyring blanks I have look like (in gold-ish-plated, silver-ish-plated, and gunmetal), and you use wire and beads and charms to make dangly bits, and attach them, firmly, to the loop at the bottom, so that they will dangle attractively.

This is what the phone charm blanks I have look like, and similarly you'd make up some dangly bits and attach them to the solid ring. You can see some examples on that webpage.

Alas, they have not yet made ones for iPhones . . . but then again, some things need no extra adornment. (does the flattery bit)

*snicker* I'm sure there are shell-cases for the things that include a place for Danglies. Though they'd probably have to be soft, fuzzy ones, since the screen is glass and all.

What an iPod (or iPad!) probably needs is its own customised knitted or quilted cover/case. :)

(And I have seen laptop patchwork cover patterns in some of the quilting magazines . . .)

*giggle* Well, you know I crocheted the pouch for my phone and the kid's iPod! Not sure I could make one that'd bear the weight of a full iPad, though...

Hm. A padded patchwork case with a machine-sewed strap could be looked into at this end, certainly . . .

Probably not for me, alas -- I am stuffing it into the pursepack (we commissioned it at Arisia! it is a deep gray-purple and sort of a slightly-smaller-than-usual backpack kind of thing, and it will fit the Airbook and the iPad and at least one ball of yarn with Stuff! And a couple books. And a wallet.) these days.

On the other hand, depending on your local possible clientele for such things, it might be something for selling.

Or else you might get your own iPad someday! O:D
