inner cynic
Apr. 18th, 2012 02:08 amSo I got a new pair of glasses a month or so ago. A rather nice pair, with an elegant bronze-ish coating. Last week I noticed that the coating had worn away a little to show some of the plain dark grey under-metal, on the bridge of the nose.
I went to the opticians today, prepared to explain at length how I'd only had them for a month, and how logically I couldn't have hit them against something there because it'd have hit my face as well and I'm sure I'd have noticed it, and how I wore them all day except when they were in their case at night so I couldn't have scraped them at some point when they weren't on my face . . .
But then the man who was manning the "let me help you customers" desk, who was the gentleman who'd served me previously when I was getting them fitted, took a look at them, and promptly said, "Right, no problem, we'll order in a new frame of this design and I'll change the lenses into the new frame for you. It should be in within the week."
While I am delighted beyond words that I am not going to have to jump through hoops to get this sorted out, and that I should have nice new frames in a week or so, I must admit that my inner cynic's first and immediate reaction was they've had other people come in with the same problem with these or same-line frames, and that's why they're responding to it right away and promising new frames with no argument.
Ah well. I suppose, as long as I get the new frames (same design), then I shouldn't complain.
