pretty fabrics

Hello, weekend.

I am refraining from attending the Quilts UK show in Malvern this year (boo chiz) on the grounds that it's four hours by train each way, plus train fare, plus I already have lots of fabric that I should use first anyhow. But it still rankles. And the next big quilt show within convenient distance isn't till August or so.

However, there is the very much smaller Rag Fair in Hebden Bridge tomorrow - no, seriously, very much smaller, a single room of stuff, with maybe a dozen or so vendors - which has the good points of being only about an hour away by train, an extremely low return fare, and the town itself is a pretty place with some nice small shops. So if the weather's good and if a package which I'm waiting for arrives sufficiently early in the day, I may go and do that instead.

Still, maybe next year I will go to the Malvern one. Even if it involves some planning and a day off work. I didn't realise I'd miss it so much.

Four hours each way is a marathon. Make it an overnighter, maybe?

Having googled, I see there's another quilting show there in October. Any consolation there?

I might well go to that one, depending on how things go - and make it an overnighter, as you say. And in the meantime, there's one in Birmingham in August, and one in Harrogate which is either at the end of August or the beginning of September. Then there's the autumn Knitting & Stitching Show, which will be in London in September or October, and in Harrogate in November...

Really, I'm spoilt. :)
