A colleague at work has a very penetrating voice. I had almost forgotten this, because she had been off on leave, then on a training course.

She's back at her desk today.

Minor trials, I keep telling myself. Two colleagues at work have very loud voices, in a room with high ceilings that magnifies sound, with antsy babies who wail at loud noises. Said colleagues seem not to realize that their resounding conversations and shrieks of merriment have anything to do with the chaos about them.

Yes. It is always the people with loud voices who seem least aware of them. (I can only hope that I am not one of those sinners.)
