the rituals of office life
Sep. 8th, 2016 02:02 amSurvived huge long meeting today. Yay. Over for another three months.
All preparations made and ready for coworker's fiftieth birthday present tomorrow. (Technically it's her birthday next week, but tomorrow is her last day in work before having a few days holiday in Rome, so we've been getting things organised.) She probably expects something, as she knows how these things work in our office, but I hope she'll be agreeably surprised by what we've got her.
Hopefully the weather will also be a bit cooler. It's been annoyingly humid the last few days. I could do with a change. (Will I now get rained on? Possibly. The universe is like that.)
---
Irene braced herself and rolled down the window on her side, peering out. She saw the two coiling figures falling through the sky together, wrapped around each other in coils of gold and dark green like the most intricate embroidery. As she’d seen before with Kai, it wasn’t exactly aerodynamic flying by any human standards of physics: it was a drift through the air like a painting on a scroll, moving from point A to point B in a way that was more concerned with aesthetics than gravity or acceleration.
