it really is a musical that lends itself to collecting different versions

Currently listening to a CD of the Toho production of Elisabeth. While this is in Japanese, it differs from the Takarazuka production in that both men and women are involved.

It's not that I haven't heard it sung by men as well as women before, but I haven't heard it sung in Japanese by men as well as women before. Sung nicely, too.

(Though looking at the enclosed booklet, there's no question about which production is prettier.)
