halfway in
Jan. 24th, 2005 07:01 pmOkay. Halfway there.
Net news first; after spending an annoying length of time with a phone receiver at my ear and listening to classical pieces presumably chosen to calm the raging complainer, discovered that the reason I can't get online is, believe it or not, because someone has apparently cancelled my online account. (Though not my phone or tv ones, which is something.)
(Incidentally, this includes my email address -- hold off on using the ntlworld one for the moment, please, anyone who is. If you do use it, you know what it is, so I won't bother quoting it here.)
So I then got passed to Customer Services, in something of a fume, and got told that "unfortunately our computer system which deals with that is down at the moment, can you please call back tomorrow".
I'll be calling back tomorrow.
In better news, have contacted estate agents, established that the unfurnished property I want is still available, and sent in a deposit to cover holding it for me and reference checks. Barring a catastrophe or someone else's cheque miraculously arriving before mine does, that's looking good.
Spent the rest of the day bubbling happily. (Apart from the little episode on the phone mentioned earlier. I was really very polite. Honestly.)
Oh, I see that President Bush apparently "supports a constitutional amendment to outlaw abortion, but has not actively pushed for it." (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050124/ap_on_re_us/abortion_protest_5) Well, good. I'm glad to know that he governs America by the will of the people, rather than personal whim.
Gilead, anybody?
