With all the other places that elves have got into, it's not surprising that they've managed to penetrate the porn publishers. Churning out glamorous erotica to pay the bills, it seems an easy life until one of them is called on to produce a "tell all" expose of Walpurgisnacht, infiltrating the Court's private ceremonies to bare the naked truth. Will she come out untouched, or will her heart be claimed together with her body by the mysterious Horned Man? Author "Tit" Ania gives us another sizzling piece, comparable to her earlier "Midsummer Night's Concubine."

I've always been a particular fan of that 85 story of yours, The Curious Incident of the Sha in the Night-Time. The writing was entirely up to your usual standards, and your ability to use a light hand while making emotional dynamics ring true is what makes your stories a pleasure (and, in cases like this, a riot) to read.

When Prince Kougaiji suspects a nighttime visitor, he investigates the Sanzou-ikkou, only to find far more than he suspects. His intervention provokes a crisis between the members of the team, with Gojou finally being forced to decide between his twin passions. Hakkai is subtly drawn as a deeply masculine figure, and Gojou's parental needs are explored with care. Sanzou's final irked betting on the horse races is strangely revealing in terms of character and principle, while Gokuu, as ever, is the innocent fool who speaks the truth when it is most needed. The coda between Kougaiji and Dokugakuji, while not strictly necessary in terms of character dynamics, ties off the story nicely and provides an answer to the first question: Who watches the Prince's sleep?

While this attempt to cross Devil May Cry with Chinese mythology is perhaps not totally successful, it has a certain energy. Moreover, the author has not hesitated to take full advantage of the genre's possibilities when it comes to animal deities (and demons) taking on human form to interact with, or more precisely, molest the hero. Vergil's own walk-on appearance in traditional robes in the company of several dragons leave one wishing that more time had been spent on this section.

This piece (or, to use its alternate title, Disco Inferno), documents the tragic descent of the young Hinamori Momo into the deviant practice of disco dancing. Led on by the older Aizen Sousuke, whose apparent gentleness conceals astonishing prowess on the dance floor, and threatened by the rival challenger Ichimaru Gin (the Silver Fox, known for his lame glitter bodysuit), she finds herself up before the most dangerous of judges for the final confrontation, where she must boogie for her life and soul. Who will survive? Who will pay for the drinks at the bar afterwards?

The wartime spy drama, The Ice Cream Follies -- a game of agent against agent, spy against spy, Ise Nanao against Ichimaru Gin in a high-stakes struggle for that crucial invention, the Hougyoukou. While it is pleasant to see Kyouraku and Ukitake make a brief appearance in the casino scene, there is no doubt that the story belongs to the protagonists, and that their interplay and conflict rises to new levels of tension. With peaks of tension from the moment when Ise is captured by the Arrankar Secret Police to the scene where Ichimaru has to bluff his way into the Seireitai laboratories, there is no doubt that fans will enjoy this work as much as they have done previous pieces from this author.

Ah, yes. The description of Kyouraku Shunsui's escape from a prison camp in Hueco Mundo. Condemned to sobriety, forced into drinking water, the story of his cross-desert escape while carrying Ukitake Jyushirou on his back is truly an epic for the ages. Particularly touching was the scene when he flew his pink kimono from the camp flagpole. We will omit descriptions of the "interrogation scene" in the dungeons, as these have already been dealt with before by other critics, in somewhat extreme detail.

This little horror story goes back to the old traditions, and mingles the occult with technology. Makubex is revealed to be an ancient spirit of Tokyo, the guardian kami of the whole of Mugenjou, rather than the AI he has so often feared that he was, but is forced to sacrifice his own existence in order to anchor the "virtual reality" in real space and time. Sakura gives her life to be with him, and is reborn as a cherry-tree in the haunted garden that becomes an urban legend.

101 Ways to Outsmart a Mongoose, Getbackers :3

As usual, Ban knows more than he's telling, and it's no great surprise to the reader when he turns out to be mystically linked to the new thief on the Tokyo scene. But which of the two of them will end up with Ginji's heart? This fic buzzes with chase scenes, dramatic action, and fervid confrontations. Possibly Akabane's appearance is not totally necessary, but his intervention in the final gender-revelation scene is nicely handled, and the Mongoose's final choice to join the ranks of private detectives no doubt signals his return in the future as a regular adversary.

This Gaiden piece shows that Heaven is not always as quiet as it is made out to be. When Kanzeon Bosatsu's favourite breastplate (with scriptural engravings) goes missing, and Konzen Douji is framed for the crime, who can rescue him from the peril in which he stands? Will Tenpou, Kenren and Gokuu be able to fight their way across time and space to retrieve the golden girdle from an oddly familiar priest 500 years in the future? And will Goujun be able to protect them in their absence, fighting in the court as much as on the battlefield, to save them from charges of high treason?

Personally, I've been hoping to see some continuation of the Exalted/Doctor Who drabbles. Perhaps one could entitle something "Celestial Monstrance of the Pagoda of Jade". 7Doc/Chejop intrigue, Ace/Roseblack romance, wild-ass combat, maybe even Terrestrials vs Daleks... It could be all kinds of fun.

It's not the Daleks that make an appearance in this piece, but the Cybermen. When Bernice Summerfield is called in to excavate an ancient Manse, she finds herself opening a gateway to Autocthonia. The inhabitants are quick to ally with the Cybermen, though it's open to debate as to who's using who, and as nanomachine upgrading and merciless cybernetising prepares an army to strike at the Blessed Isle itself, different factions must finally come to an agreement if Creation is to be saved. Will Ace and the Roseblack be able to fight together after their previous tragic parting? Can Chejop Sejak trust the Doctor, or is this all a ploy to remove too dangerous a world from the playing board? And can Benny uncover the secrets of the Yozi Rear Entrance Prana Imperative before it is too late?

Indeed, there is a clear parallel between the original and this new reworking which has the heroine dare the depths of PC Support. Once her "maidenhead" is gone, and she has been exposed to the concepts of science fiction, fantasy and anime, she becomes truly "pregnant" with ideas. Shunned by the other data clerks, can she save the man who introduced her to all this, or will he forget his prior dreams of system design and be headhunted into Management?

This study of Urahara's character is in itself a study of Aizen's character, viewing one from the perspective of the other. Urahara recognises his own vices and virtues in Aizen, and ponders how nearly he took the same path, and how narrowly he rejected the further potentials of his experiments. The piece ends with a self-deluding coda that shows how close the two men actually are, and how much Urahara still intrigues and investigates, even if he attempts to convince himself otherwise. His latest ploy to distract Aizen by betraying Ichigo, Chad and Ishida shows that whatever he may think about his moral path and his narrow escape, nothing has changed at all; he is still as utterly convinced of his own choices as is Aizen himself.
