I'd forgotten how much I enjoy the Dream of Gerontius. I remember singing in it when I was at school, which is probably part of it, and so I'm humming along with parts. Dispossessed, aside thrust, cast down, as if aught could stand in the place of the high thought and the glance of fire of the great spirits, the powers blest, the lords by right, the primal owners of the proud dwelling and realm of light --

My line manager, who has been off delivering courses elsewhere for the last week, phoned at about 4.45pm. I was getting a mug of coffee at the time, and didn't notice the "missed call" message on my phone till 5.30pm, by which time it was a bit late to call her back. (I tried anyhow but only got her answerphone.) Still, hopefully it wasn't anything too urgent if it was a phone call at 4.45pm on a Friday afternoon.
I will try not to worry about this over the weekend. I will probably succeed.
Rain most of the day. I'm hoping it clears up a bit for Saturday at least, if not so much for Sunday: Sunday I can always stay inside, but Saturday probably involves carrying grocery shopping home, and that is never enjoyable in the rain.
