summon the she-bears
Jun. 3rd, 2003 12:57 amDentist tomorrow, and as such, I recite the familiar mantra of "please please please don't let me need any new fillings". I wonder if one could argue that just as there are no atheists in foxholes, neither are there any in dentists' chairs? (I know I haven't needed any for a couple of years. That makes no difference to anything at all.)
In the middle of translating a chunk of Scales, about magical beings, with rough notes on personalities and suggested powers. I will merely note that lamias get more fun than unicorns, and that the proximity of one to the other is because the French for unicorn is "licorne".

17: And Ezeliah said unto Benshazzar, Lo, for the Fight Scene
between Neo and all Those Agents was really Kick-Ass.
18: And the Lord looked down upon Ezeliah and Benshazzar,
and He said, Cease! for I have not seen this Movie yet, thou
Ass-hats.
19: But the two continued to speak of the Movie, but in hushed tones.
20: And the Lord was displeased, for He who is Creator could
hear their every Tone, and summoned two She-bears to
rend them and destroy them, that he might not hear
Spoilers for the Movie.

Date: 2003-06-03 02:55 am (UTC)Yes. Good luck with the dentist tomorrow; my thoughts will be with you.
Amusingly, the French ("licorne") looks like it's a borrow from Italian, although as I don't actually know either language I can't be sure. (Having now looked it up, Italian "unicorn" is, predictably, unicorno - but "horn" is corno.)
