Meeting today. Meeting tomorrow. Meeting on Thursday. This is going to be one of those weeks. I can feel it coming. The big consolation is that they are actually useful problem-solving meetings where we thrash out resolutions to problems with the upcoming classification update.

(As opposed to, you know, the sort of meeting where you sit in the background and try not to look as if you're falling asleep while plotting future novels or patchwork diagrams in the margin of your notes.)

Made a necklace and two pairs of earrings this evening, which helped me relax and fondle pretty beads, but left me feeling uncreative afterwards. But I did have jewelry created, so that's positive. (The necklace is for one friend. One pair of earrings is for the coworker who's leaving at the end of the week, which means that I take them into work tomorrow and show them around to other team members while she's not looking. The other pair of earrings is for me, because it's very difficult to make jewelry for other people and nothing for myself.)

(This is why I have too many pairs of earrings, yes.)

(And the pair I made for myself is dangles of Peruvian amazonite chips, for the record. A lovely shade of blue-green.)

‘[...] and this boy, this boy, he’s special too,’ said the Thiefmaker. ‘Everything you asked me to look for after I sold you Calo and Galdo. Everything you liked so much about Sabetha! He’s Camorri, but a mongrel. Therin and Vadran blood. He looks like Parlay or Somnay Vadran, if you ask me. He’s got larceny in his heart, sure as the sea’s full of fish piss. And I can even let you have him at a . . . a discount.’

The Eyeless Priest spent a long moment mulling this. ‘You’ll pardon me,’ he finally said, 'if experience suggests that I would be wise to meet unexpected generosity from you by arming myself and putting my back against a wall.’

The Thiefmaker tried to let a vaguely sincere expression scurry onto his face, where it froze in evident discomfort. His shrug was theatrically casual.

Oh. One of my ex-bosses just LOVED this. And he was actually checking if everybody is listening devotedly enough ^_^ So I completely sympathize ^_^
