The throat continues to feel mildly sore, but I feel generally adequate otherwise. Fingers crossed that it stays there and/or gets better.
Would you believe that after a mild day with moments of quite pleasant sunshine, we had a hail shower this evening? It came rattling down outside, louder than rain, and I got up to look out of the window and see that it was in fact hail rather than just rain. The weather is ridiculous.
Nice episode; not one of the Best Ever, but perfectly adequate. Well, okay, that's somewhat damming with faint praise. Decent plot, good villain, a few moments of annoyance but generally fun to watch. Donna is a much more sensible person here than she was during the Christmas special where she first appeared, for which thank heaven, and I think I can tolerate her much better than I'd been fearing.
I do find RTD's view of mother-daughter relationships rather depressing. So far three companions, three cases of mother nagging daughter or embarrassing her or otherwise being awkward. Even if said mothers did all throw in and help out in the end, it's becoming a bit of a pattern.
Though in this case I could totally sympathise with Donna's mother. If I gave up my job, started skipping jobs, and was constantly logged onto conspiracy websites and investigating weird goings-on, I think my mother would have a few things to say to me as well.

I liked Donna a lot in this one. And the cute alien babies. You can also see that the Doctor has been 'humanised' from his contact with Martha last season -- he tried to save the Nanny at the end, after all. I wish Rose hadn't shown up. I'd be perfectly happy never to see her again :P

Date: 2008-04-06 01:05 pm (UTC)I did find Donna quite pleasant/agreeable in this. Especially the bit where she tells him to calm down and tell her what he needs. And yes, I could have lived without Rose as well.
